The committee charged with finding a replacement for Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Rob Guidry is playing its cards close to its vest, but ABiz has learned a replacement could emerge as soon as Friday.
“The leadership has done a remarkable job in remaining tight lipped on this,” Guidry tells ABiz in an emailed response Thursday. “All I can tell you is the selection committee is to make its recommendation to the board of directors tomorrow.”
A source with limited information on the search tells ABiz more than one person considered local — either living in the area/state or having lived and worked here recently — has made the cut of finalists.
Guidry announced in mid-2012 that he’d retire by the end of this year, giving the chamber ample time to conduct a search for his replacement. Guidry has been with the local business lobbying group for 35 years.
The chamber’s then-chairman, Jerry Greig said in the prepared announcement that Guidry would remain in his current capacity until his successor is seated and a seamless transition is completed.
Guidry has said he plans to remain fully engaged in the business and social aspects of the community after his retirement.
