A Pittman Broadcasting official would not say how long the company’s radio stations have been off the air or when they’ll be back, but she did confirm that the independent operator is moving its Lafayette studio from 3225 Ambassador Caffery Parkway to Guilbeau Road.
Office Manager Brenda Johnson says Pittman owner Dr. Marcus Pittman is relocating to 514 Guilbeau Road Ste. B, across from the Lafayette Schools’ Federal Credit Union. The stations will remain dark while the computer and transmitting equipment changes are under way, she says. The company's website, however, does not explain to listeners why their stations are off the air.
Pittman Broadcasting, which bills itself the “largest group of independently owned radio stations in the state of Louisiana,” owns stations in the Lafayette and Northshore markets. The company’s website lists “The Voice of Lafayette” KVOL-AM 1330; “Rejoice” 1520 AM (Lafayette); southern soul, zydeco and R&B stations KFXZ-FM 105.9 and KYMK-FM 106.3 (Opelousas and Lafayette); and “Cat Country” WUUU-FM 98.9 (Franklinton).
