EatLafayette has kicked its campaign up a notch this year, with Robert Mondavi Wines joining The New Fly Lafayette Club as a title sponsor.

In its eighth year, EatLafayette is celebrating 61 locally-owned participating restaurants. The campaign launches on June 18 and runs through Aug. 15.

mondavi_3“Having Mondavi Wines engaged as a title sponsor this year has allowed us to reach a new level in our campaign,” Gerald Breaux, executive director of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission, says in announcing the new sponsorship. “We think now is definitely the right time to take the campaign up a notch, given the area’s recent recognitions,” Breaux continues, referencing Rand McNally and USA Today’s 2011 Best of the Road honor for Lafayette as the "Best Small Town for Food" and a Southern Living national contest that named Lafayette the 2012 "Tastiest Town in the South."

“People in Acadiana not only appreciate good food, but also good wine,” continues Breaux. “It is a good pairing.”

“Robert Mondavi Winery is proud to be a sponsor of EatLafayette, which celebrates great cuisine and the entrepreneurial spirit of Lafayette,” says Dwight Prudhomme, executive vice president at Republic National Distributing Company, Mondavi’s local distributor. “Lafayette is unique, robust and flavorful — a lot like Robert Mondavi Wines themselves,” Prudhomme adds.

Today from 2-4 p.m. Mondavi and Republic hosted a promotion and tasting session for the participating restaurants.
