The Hub City has received more accolades for its economy and job strength, this week taking the No. 17 spot on CNN Money’s “Where the Jobs Are,” which ranks the top 25 counties for job growth across the country.

According to CNN Money’s website, Lafayette Parish has seen a 27.2 percent job growth from 2000-2011.

The CNN article points out that while the oil and gas industry has anchored our economy, “manufacturing, retail, medical services and tech play a big role, too.”

The money magazine also notes that Lafayette’s access to interstates makes it a prime attractant for freight companies like UPS and FedEx.
