Construction is under way on the outskirts of the Acadiana Mall near the Ambassador entrance for a Cavender’s, a national chain carrying Western attire. Stocked with boots, jeans, jackets, hats, clothing, and accessories, Cavender’s features popular brands like Wrangler, MissMe, Ariat and Lucchese.

The 18,340-square-foot freestanding store, located on Tucker Drive near Plato’s Closet, is scheduled to be completed in October.

Founded in Pittsburg, Texas, by the Cavender family in the mid-1960s, the store has expanded to more than 50 locations stretching across Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Behind Bossier City, Gretna and Shreveport, the Lafayette store will be Cavender’s fourth Louisiana location.

The company’s corporate offices are in Tyler, Texas, and it is still owned and operated by the Cavender family.
