The Hilton Garden Inn on Congress Street across from the Cajundome was sold for an undisclosed sum by Jackie’s International to Apple REIT Nine, according to the website Hotel Interactive.
The buyer is planning minor renovations to the property, which will continue to operate as a Hilton Garden Inn. The 153-room hotel, which opened in 2006, leases property at UL’s Research Park.
Apple REIT Nine is part of the Apple Real Estate Investment Trust Companies, based in Richmond, Va. A REIT is a company that owns and typically operates income-producing real estate such as hotels, apartments, shopping centers, offices and warehouses. Some REITs also engage in financing real estate.
