Courtesy buys Jackie Edgar Ford

Don Hargroder’s Courtesy Automotive Group, primarily a GM dealer, has added the former Jackie Edgar Ford in Breaux Bridge to its portfolio of dealerships.

First reported in the September-October issue of ABiz, The Independent Weekly’s sister business publication, Courtesy has been managing the Breaux Bridge dealership while it awaited Ford's approval of the purchase.

That approval brings Ford back into the Courtesy group, the state’s GM sales leader for the past several years. ABiz’s “Dealmaker of the Year” in 2009, an award presented in connection with the publication's Top 50 Privately Held Companies event, Hargroder once owned a Ford dealership in Morgan City for a short time. Hargroder has also decided to move his Lincoln dealership from its location south of the Mall of Acadiana to Breaux Bridge, creating the new Courtesy Lincoln Ford.

Courtesy is headquartered at 4750 Johnston St., where it sells GMC and Buick; its Lafayette Cadillac dealership is on Ambassador Caffery, and it also has dealerships in New Iberia, Morgan City, Franklin and Abbeville.

Taking over Jackie Edgar Ford is the latest strategic move for Hargroder, who’s been in the retail auto business almost 30 years.

In March Adrian Vega purchased Hargroder’s Mazda dealership, adding it to his Evangeline Thruway lineup across from the airport.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Breaux Bridge dealership, 2022T Rees Street, Friday at 10 a.m.

I just wonder how the service & attention will be at all these dealerships under the same umbrellas. How can you see that each dealership is giving the customers the attention and satisfaction the customer wants. Courtesy is getting som big, I just wonder how the big wigs can keep up with the day to day supervision. I own vehicles from Courtesy and Vega, and I worry they're getting too big to give me the kind of attention & satisfaction Moss Honda gives me..... cause when it all comes down to it, service is the key to sales....

But here lays the biggest question. Will all those people my Parents age who are the people who drive those land yachts go all the way to Breaux Bridge? Living in the center of town I can say that Hub City and Breaux Bridge are both more difficult to get to then Abbeville. This appears to a snafu on either Courtesy’s part or Ford’s part whichever party is prompting this move.

Coco, its called "CAPITAL GAINS, its an old long practiced modo operandi, it began with the Native American Apache, circling the settlers wagon trains, and the truth be told it was a manufacture's call, and a sweet deal for COURTESY. You either get it or you lose it.
