I worked in the courthouse and saw her often and she was friendly, respectful, brilliant, and a tough judge. I remember hearing stories of her asking for the Sheriff's office to have deputies in the courtroom when she handed down some judgements. I thought she was a gutsy broad, able to take on uppity men in the legal profession on their own terms and able to give any criminal a hearty dressing down. She worked long, hard, late hours.
