Walter, the council voted the same resolution down just a few weeks ago. What Robert is saying, is we are getting tired of the politicians who don't understand no. If they don't get their way they keep on & on & on & on until they wear the folks who disagree with them out. Just look at the Lafayette Parish School Board. They keep bringing up the property tax increase over & over & over.

Robert, I agree with you!! - Michael A. Moss

Robert,
The resolution before council is only about whether to let Lafayette voters decide the tax. Shouldn't we city folk be allowed as a polity to say yeah or nay about taxing ourselves? That's democracy. - Walter Pierce

As voters, we need to hold politicians accountable for not "taking no for an answer." - Robert Ellender

Their is another article about 2011 being the second highest retail sales year in parish history in this online issue. Maybe the city can find a way to replace the expiring millage with the increasing sales tax revenue from actual sales rather than replacing the millage tax. Maybe put the excess in the rainy day fund? Since gas prices may reach histoic highs in the near future, I doubt a tax will fly with the voters. - Dudley E. LaBauve, III

How old was Castille when he retired from the Lafayette Fire Department? How many years of service did he have? How much is his monthly pension from the city. How much does he pay in health insurance monthly premiums to the city? Will he be eligible for a retirement with the City of Carencro? I would think that as much as Castille likes to talk, he will gladly give us the answers. - Michael A. Moss
