Cochon serving food late night, new Sunday zydeco brunch
Fill up and drink a few at Cochon late night on Fridays, and then indulge on brunch on Sundays.
On Friday nights, the kitchen closes at 10 p.m. and the chefs go outside and start cooking on the grill, says Cochon manager Brian Fuller — and they serve that food free until everyone leaves. The theme? Street food from around the world. Tacos, pork belly steamed buns, chicken yakatori, and tonight is chicken sate.
The restaurant’s most popular cocktail, according to Fuller, has an ever-evolving name; call it purple drank, sizzurp or the JaMarcus Russell. It’s a combination of lemonade, blueberry moonshine and a few other special ingredients. The cocktail menu is seasonal, as well as the dining menus, so come tonight to grab one.
For the zydeco brunch on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Cochon has $15 pitchers of mimosas, which serves about nine people, and a live band every week. This weekend, it’s the Magnolia Sisters, and upcoming weeks include T’ Monde, Double Date, Cat Head Biscuit Boys, and Cedric Watson and Friends. For the brunch, Fuller recommends the pulled pork benedict — the pork is slow cooked overnight for 12 hours at 200 degrees.
