Brown: Jindal one of South's many national wannabes

Just last year, before the president’s State of the Union address, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal was the fair haired boy of the national Republican Party. Political writer Jim Brown points out how quickly the political climate can change in one year.

In his weekly column, Brown reminds us that Jindal  had even been considered as a vice presidential candidate on the McCain ticket in 2008, and every pundit had him high up on the list of contenders for 2012. "But like the old saying goes, 'the South shall rise again,'" Brown writes.

Brown notes that potential candidates for a Republican national ticket are emerging from all over the South. And while Jindal has to tend the home state brush fires with a huge budget crisis and a reelection ahead, a number of Southern candidates are free to raise money and head for Iowa, he says.

Jim Brown’s new column takes a look at the Jindal dilemma and his tough choices ahead. Read it here

Leslie,

You'll pardon me if I don't jump and shout for that old phrase, "the south shall rise again." If my memory of history is correct that was a hope of the confederate south that slavery would once again return to the south.

So, again, pardon me, if I don't jump and shout.

Palin is going to be the republican nominee, and Obama will win the contest.

The Republican Party grasped for straws last election when they picked Palin as McCain's mate. This time around they will not be so stupid. Hell, an idiot can tell you, Palin was the reason for failure, she was an unknown then and now that the world has come to know her for the dumbass she is, " Its all she wrote!
