Gachassins supporting Hardy’s opponent

State Rep. Rickey Hardy’s ethics complaint against development consultant Greg Gachassin (which, according to Gachassin’s attorney, prompted an ethics investigation) appears to be benefiting his opponent in the District 44 race.

vince_pierre2Vince Pierre (at left), nephew of former District 44 state Rep. Wilfred Pierre, raised $5,230 from Jan. 1 to Sept. 12, according to campaign finance reports. Of that amount, $3,000 comes from the Gachassins: $2,500 from Nick Gachassin Jr., Greg’s father, and $500 from Gachassin law firm.

On May 2 Hardy, who helped expose mismanagement and fraud at the Lafayette Housing Authority, lodged a formal complaint with the state Board of Ethics. “It would seem as if Mr. Gachassin has violated the ethics laws of the State of Louisiana while serving as chairman and member of the Lafayette Public Trust Finance Authority... [and] appears to have been in ethics violation even after his resignation from the [LPTFA],” Hardy wrote to the state’s top ethics administrator, Kathleen Allen. Hardy’s complaint is connected to Gachassin’s work for two low-income housing developments financed or spearheaded by the LPTFA while he was serving on the board.

Hardy, who pledged in August to stop taking all campaign contributions and returned donations he had received from the previous month, did show $1,000 in contributions he took in early in the year — $250 from Air Product Political Alliance, $500 from CRPPA Local PAC, and $250 from Robert D. Lowe.

The most recent reports, which were due by Sept. 22 — 30 days prior to the primary election — show Pierre with $914 cash on hand and Hardy with $9,830.

It seems theInd is only interested in the campaigns in minority districts. Let's see more stories on all the other races, and who is funding those candidates. This tabloid has seems the have a great deal of affection for politics involving North Lafayette, sorry I meant UPPER Lafayette.

Hardy protects the poor and working class. The others exploit them. Pierre will protect Gachassin in the legislature. A return to corrupt politics as usual.

Hardly has to GO! That is all I hear When I talk about the District 44 Race. It really does not matter who endorses Pierre, because I am sure Pierre does not have the amount of money in his campaign fund as Hardly.....But money does not win the race the community does!

@hoover5: You must be walking around Uncle Wilfred's yard, because you repeated his mantra. I can assure you, Hardy has the support of all the African-Americans in District 44 who were taught early in life not to steal from others. Hardy beat four other candidates in the last election who were even more politically connected than his present opponents. Hardy is not a guy that wins with money. He wins because he returns his phone calls and exposes those who would victimize the poor. He's the protector of the working man.

So hoover5, you are saying that the community wants a liar, a sneak, and a thief like Vincent "Little Wifred" Pierre to represent them? I think not. I truly believe that the vast majority of "the community" would like to be rid of the stereotype and want an honest man of integrity like Rickey Hardy to represent them. Vincent "Little Wilfred" Pierre is a return to the ways of his thief Uncle Wilfred whose theft of public funds was exposed by Rickey Hardy. God help us if "the community" is that stupid.

I truly believe this, " IF Ricky was anglo he'd be mayor of Lafayette Parish in 2012. Hell... If Ricky Hardy kissed Joey's Cronys butts, " HE'D be Parish President !
Ricky Hardy could be earning a living in many other occupations, the fact that he earns a living as the owner and operator of a lawn service speaks volumes about his integrity, his willingness to do whatever he has to do to support his family. This is proof of his willingness to scratch out a living from his sweat, unlike the STATE Educated Sons And Daughters Of The Local Politicians. . Take a lession from this You, Pierre's, Durel's, Zooschlag, Festermaker, Chiassons, Cravins, Williams, Carmouche, and hoover 5...And when you and the local politicos cry of how our young educated leave the area, LET IT BE KNOWN ITS YOU THIEVIN BOZO'S WHO HAVE FORCED THEM OUT. Its called self-preservation, DUMMYS !

Man, when you read the reports and compare them side by side, Pierre received over 60% of his contributions from the Gachassins: $3000. That is pretty sad that Pierre is bought and paid for before the first vote is cast. Plus, Pierre received over $1000 from Uncle Wilfred's Three Frenchmen Janitorial Service and other family members. So to put it in perspective, Pierre is bought and paid for by five contributors whose contributions come to more than $4100. $3000 from the Gachassins alone.

That's right, hoover5, people vote. Honest, decent, hardworking people who appreciate a man of integrity like Rickey Hardy will vote him into office for another term. You must be a Wilfred Pierre wannabe like his nephew, Vincent. The days of stealing and using the taxpayers money for personal gain like Uncle Wilfred did are long gone. People vote and vote they will for Rickey Hardy!!

Pity Those who never toil to layout the price of the ticket in life, through some manner, without toil, without anguish, without sacrifice, they skirt the ticket booth cheek to cheek.
They are one and the same, that kind, who travel light in search of someone to bilk.
Unlike the poor peep who nevah knows the luxury of a scenic route, all alone the poor peep there's always a shortage of his ilk.
Through life's journey so goeth the common working man, sans caviar and champagne, with head high, forevah havin to eke.
Calloused and worn yet his faith nevah went weak
Alas, do not begrudge those who never experience the sweetness of the fare.
Or the fulfillment of holding ones head high, I speak of those akin you and I, those who dare.
And trade not your ticket with those experiencing only the lightly traveled smooth path, that which cometh with trading ones name and soul, for the price of the ride in life,
traveling alone but for my one true friend at my side.
I am one, of few, able to hold my head high and stand here filled with pride, having paid the price for the ride.

For those who Pay the price, Walter and the INDY Staff !

They will always exist, those with no shame, those looking for a free ride.
Tis not your fault nor mine, You and I, we've nothing to hide.
They skate through lifes well-beaten paths these low-life neer-do wells.
With crutches they get by, but only by kissin the others tails.
