Early voting starts Saturday

Early voting for the Nov. 19 election begins Saturday, leaving voters in Lafayette Parish a chance to cast their votes on several candidates and issues two weeks ahead of election day.

The Lafayette Parish Registrar of Voters’ office at 1010 Lafayette St., suite 313, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for early voting from Saturday through Nov. 12, though the office will be closed on Sunday, Nov. 6 and Friday, Nov. 11.

The following is a list of the items that will appear on Lafayette Parish ballots, depending on which precinct you vote in:

District Family Court Judge - Kay Karré Gautreaux, Susan Theall
State Representative District 39 - Don Menard, Stephen Ortego
State Senate District 24 - Don Cravins Sr., Elbert Guillory
State Representative District 44 - Rickey Hardy, Vincent Pierre
BESE District 8 - Jimmy “Jim” Guillory, Carolyn Hill
City-Parish Council District 6 - Jared Doise, Andy Naquin
State Representative District 96 - Terry Landry, Eric Martin
City of Broussard - .5 percent sales and use tax
City of Youngsville - sales tax for construction of recreation complex
Constitutional Amendment No. 1 - would prevent new taxes and fees on the sale of real estate

Voter turnout for the Oct. 22 primary was 33.9 percent in Lafayette Parish, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website.

Saw a recent poll from Theall's camp that showed a dead heat at 38%. It's gonna be a close one!

We shall see how the community embraces Hardy when he no longer holds office.Ricky dont know bought burnt bridges they have to be rebuilt.However fences can be mended heres to a soft landing.
